Our Annual Meeting is on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:00 pm via Zoom.

A Zoom link will be emailed to subscribing members soon. 

We will be welcoming our new board members and presenting the annual BRNN Naturalist of the Year Award to Jim Poling. Jim will then present some photography he took going out alone during the pandemic. 

Once again this year we will have Zoom “door prizes”.

Waterfall Keepers of NC

Our speaker will be Kevin Adams who is a naturalist, writer, teacher, and photographer and who has had a lifelong love affair with nature and the outdoors.  He spent the last 4 decades exploring the waterfalls in NC and in 2020, he founded Waterfall Keepers of North Carolina, a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization with the mission to promote and advance the cultural, economic, ecological, and historical significance of North Carolina waterfalls; to serve as an educator and advocate; and to preserve waterfalls and facilitate their enjoyment in perpetuity.

What is it about Owls?

For almost 40 years we lived in a wonderful old neighborhood in Atlanta. It was a small, hilly, self-contained neighborhood with twisty roads, small houses, big trees, overgrown alleys, sidewalks, and pocket parks near the venerable Bobby Jones golf course. And it had critters: squirrels and rabbits of course, foxes, badgers, skunks, coyotes, and a black bear once spotted there. One early morning on my way to meet my running chums, I saw two coyotes cavorting on the golf course. And occasionally I saw owls, usually great horned owls that are often active at dusk and dawn.
